All for the low low price of $179.99 đ€Șđž with shipping and tax my total came to $218.83 (USD, of course), and mine shipped via FedEx. I'm in Southern California, for reference. Also side note but my county has a separate tax?! How am I just now finding out about this LMAO
Okay, so let's start off with the packaging, yeah? I've already tossed out the outer packaging, sorry!! So I'll do my best to describe it đ this is basically double boxed, if that makes sense. So it comes in a manufacturer's box with the shipping label slapped on it it, and when you open it, there are Styrofoam bumpers on each corner to protect a plain/unlabeled box that houses the real packaging that basically acts as a slipcover. So no worries if you're the type who likes to keep the packaging for display or whatever, and needs to have it in pristine condition.
To recap: manufacturer's box > Styrofoam bumpers > plain box > pretty box for display!
Let's take a look at the packaging, which resembles a crate or supply box. You have a graphic of the Brotherhood of Steel logo and Liberty Prime on the top, propaganda poster on the side, and a photo of the actual product on the back. Shown with a Vault Boy Funko Pop! figure for scale, because that's how I roll.
Additional shots of the packaging.
When you first open it, you see your lil' Certificate of Authenticity đ„łđ I didn't pre-order this the second it dropped, so I was surprised I got what I feel is a pretty low number considering there's only 1,000 units.
Here's everyone's favorite forbidden treats! Yummy! đ Each book end comes wrapped in plastic, and the Liberty Prime has plastic packaging as well. Not pictured: The top half of the Styrofoam packaging, as that shit got everywhere which was really fucking annoying so I tossed it ASAP, have a lint roller or something ready when you open this thing.
Everything unboxed so, you know... the bookends and enamel pin.
I do the Vault Boy Funko Pop! for scale thing because e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e has one of these damn things, so I think it's more useful than busting out a ruler.
Various detail shots of everything all together. You can really see the paint and weathering job, looks really nice IMHO.
Just the tip..? đŠ Here's half of the bookends, note that the flat or inner part is kinda fingerprint-y, I think it just shows up more because it's a matte black. đ€·ââïž This is also the heavier of the two, the product listing said that with the packaging it weighs 20lbs but it felt lighter than that to me...? Keep in mind I also lift weights and 20lbs is nothing to me đ anyways, I'll update this if I can find some way to weigh both pieces accurately!
The badonkadonk đ have I mentioned how much I looove this green color? đđ
Here's the Liberty Prime enamel pin, can confirm that it is actually 3" in diameter. So yes, it's MASSIVE.
The Boy and one of my Brotherhood of Steel bottlecaps for scale, shows the size better I think!
Mini Nuke detail done in soft enamel.
Update: Photos of the back for those who aren't familiar with standard pin backings, also took photos showing how thick the enamel pin is. It's kind like if you layered one pin on top of another. Btw if you plan on putting this on a jacket or backpack, please look into locking pin backs or pin keepers, I have the ones I use listed on my Amazon Shop! The standard/default pin backs won't hold up to everyday wear and tear, so don't say I didn't warn ya! đ
AAAND, here's are the bookends in use. đ€đ Gotta use it for its intended purpose, right?
I actually don't keep many books in my office LOL so this is a small stack I have display on my bookcase, which uhh, I actually really use to display figures, K-Pop, and plushies. đ Office tour coming soon!
Now it's time for the million dollar question, drum roll please~ đ„đ¶ is this worth the asking price? Short answer: No. đ I think this is fucking crazy expensive for what it is LMAO and I bought it solely for review and yes, while I will be keeping it (for now) I can't even display it with the rest of my Fallout collection because of its size and weight. I don't have space inside my display cases, and placing them on top of said display cases is a no-no because of the weight so they'll be going on display somewhere in the living room. Don't get me wrong, I do think they're cool and they really are solid pieces, I don't regret buying them tbh. I'd say wait for sale before considering picking these up, but they're 'almost gone' (...according to their socials, anyway lol) so I'm not sure if that'll ever happen. Get them only if you're in the market for some sturdy, but expensive ass, novelty bookends. TBH there's a lot of other cool shit that you, yes YOU could be spending $180 on instead, and if you're looking for recommendations or need opinions on other merch feel free to hit me up on my socials â
If you're still set on buying these bookends, you can purchase them from Dark Horse Direct for $179.99 plus shipping and tax. Again, for reference I paid $218.83 and I'm in the US, so if you're also from the states expect to pay around that much... but for international?! Who knows đ It comes in a big, bulky box that weighs 20lbs so I'd imagine it might cost as much just to ship the damn thing.
